Vegetarian Festival Phuket 2019

29 Sep-7 October 2019

The Vegetarian Festival takes place at the start of the ninth month of Chinese lunar calendar.

This is one of the most famous and spectacular festivals in Phuket. The rituals, which last for nine days, are performed to purify both body and mind. During this time, participants go on a strict vegan diet as no animal products are to be consumed. There are religious processions on the streets and tests of devotion where supplicants perform acts of self-mortification including piercing of the cheeks and tongues with knives. The more impressive events include ascetic devotees walking on burning coals and climbing ladders with knife-edged rungs.

Kuta Beach Festival

11-13 Oct 2019
Kuta Beach is located in the southern city of Denpasar. This area is a tourist destination.

Before becoming a tourist attraction, Kuta was a trading port where local products were traded to buyers from outside Bali. That is our motivation to organize the “Kuta Beach Festival” to introduce community creativity.

This year’s event takes the theme “Archelon of Atlantis” which means this generation can have unlimited creativity in the arts and culture.
