Global Wellness Day, celebrated on the second Saturday of every June, is dedicated to living well, with the purpose of getting busy individuals like us to ask ourselves, “How can I live a healthier and better life?”

For one, we can start our day with a simple healthy drink made with ginger. Ginger is a power root that is rich in many properties such as vitamin c, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and phosphorus, and also contains healthy essential oils that have an antibacterial effect.  It also helps stimulate blood circulation and the circulatory system.

Learn to make this healthy ginger drink, also known as Gili Refresh, which is served at Gili Lankanfushi Maldives as a refreshing welcome drink to aid any travel sickness for guests, especially those arriving from a long flight.


  • 1 lemon
  • 2 stalks of lemongrass
  • 50g fresh ginger
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • 250ml apple juice
  • Chilled sparkling water


  • Peel and chop the lemon and ginger.
  • Roughly chop the lemongrass.
  • Put everything in a blender and add the mint leaves and apple juice.
  • Blend and pour through a sieve into bottles.
  • Fill the bottle halfway and add sparkling water.
